Let's worry about the idiots who think my blind spot is a rest stop before we worry about whether they can work on their cars... that said, given how many cars I see out there with the "super bonus variety pack" of four different tires, one does get the impression that even the most basic maintenance concepts escape the average driver.

You get that too? And folks who think buses stop on pennies? I don't much like them, either...

You'd be floored how many Lexus owners would drive 40 minutes just because the TPMS light was on, just because the tires were a wee bit low from a rapid temp change.

Or all the RX owners that would complain that the power rear door would not close, yet the carpet mat stuck in the floor latch pin (plain as day, right out in the open) needed to be shoved back in place.

Or the "CD changer not detected" error message on the radio, only to find the door to the CD changer magazine holder was not shut .

Or the 'my cupholder is broken' because they spilled their morning Starbuck's Latte in the console.

Or my personal favorite, 'the air conditioner won't work' and you get in the car and the climate control temp is set to 85 F on a 75 F day.... DURRRRR.....

Yeah, I would not want nor expect anyone with a Lexus to change their own light bulb. But they typically have earned the income necessary to pay someone else to do pretty much every menial plebian task in their lives so we all have our place.

I loved this as I worked in service centers and dealers for years.

All VERY TRUE.

You mean like the GM vehicles do? They email you when they need service, or get into an accident, or get stolen!

They do not email you to say they've increased in value.

Yes the lawyers are talking about class action. The outcome should be interesting for those seeking balance shaft assembly replacement compensation.
Check out the issue in a Pruis chat room: http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-p...t-problem.html

The HID lights are an option (not all Priuses have them).
HID in any car are expensive.
This is not news.

It must be news to the Prius owners, otherwise there wouldn't be the discussion about it.

It might be "news" to Prius owners who have HID lights. But not all Prius have HID lights.

There are discussions about a lot of things. Of course, people here are supposed to be smarter than Prius drivers.

It's also obvious that HID head lights have nothing to do with hybrid technology. It's silly Prius bashing so people feel superior (no one would have mentioned the issue if it was about some other non-hybrid car).

I don't think it's Prius bashing so much as Prius owner bashing...

Clueless owner/operators aren't exclusive to any model or brand.

This isn't really true. You can't really separate them in the case of the Prius because both are targets of the bashing.

There are some silly VW owners too!

Yes. That's why the original post isn't news (or useful).
